Got hit by drunk driver
I got hit by a drunk female driver while driving back home 3 months ago and almost lost my life in that accident. My car was flipping after being hit by that suv which was driving over speed limit. My car was totally wrecked but I unbelievably survived. I was sent to the hospital after the crash occured and got the CT and MRI examined, the doctor said that the disc between my neck bone had been injured and inframed. There were some minor cuts and bruises all over my body too I have been doing thearapy with chiropractic doctor for 3 months. I have hired an attorny to take care of this case and we just discussed about the whole situation of the case today. He told me that the insurance of the lady's car can pay up to $25000, the attorny will take $10k, medication costs around $5k, and $9k will be left for my compensation. I was just wondering is that really it, i mean i almost died in that accident and will get paid only for $9k, I am an international student and do not know much about law and court system, So I'd like to know is there anything else i can do about it.

Questions to ask your attorney:
Do I have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage on my own insurance policy?
Was the drunk driver employed?
Was the drunk driver in the scope of his employment when he hit you?
Were there any other cars involved?
How did the drunk driver get intoxicated? Bar or restaurant?
Does the drunk driver have ANY nonexempt assets?
Remind your attorney that the drunk driver CANNOT claim bankruptcy to discharge your claim if he was found to have been DWI when he hit you. That is, your claim should be exempt from bankruptcy if drunk driver defendant were to file for bankruptcy.
Make sure you ask at least the above question b/4 you settle any claim.
