My husband has been out of jail 2 months but now he can't afford an attorney. Is it too late for him to get a court appointed?

It is not too late but since he is on bond and presumably should be working, it is going to be very questionable whether a judge will appoint a lawyer. He needs to call at least 10 lawyers and bring to court with him the names and fees they quoted, along with a list of all the property he owns, a copy of his bank statement, and a copy of his pay check stub for the court to decide if he is indigent. My guess is that he better find a lawyer he can afford.
