Legal Question in DUI Law in Texas

Prior arrests

I was recently cited with DUI. I had a DUI conviction 20 years ago in California and haven't had any problems scince then. Will this prior show up when I go to court for my current charges?

Re: Prior arrests

Probably not. If it does, it should not affect the sentencing here, since it was minor, and so long ago.

Re: Prior arrests

I am sorry, but it may very well show up depending on how old you were when the offense in california occurred. In Texas, a DUI is considered an offense for minors. However, a DWI or Driving While Intoxicated is an adult offense and if you were arrested and charged with such an offense in California, then it could show up. You need to contact a lawyer who handles DWI cases, because it could have an effect with regard to being used to enhance the punishment of the new DWI you just picked up. Good luck.
