I received a public intoxication charge. I want to go to court myself and ask to have a deferred disposition. Is it worth it to do this? I am 39 years old and have no other things on my record this was a stupid mistake.

You can do that. Assuming they give you deferred, the case will be dismissed when you finish and you can later expunge (completely clean) your record.
