Statute of limitations on misdemeanor dui
Is there a statute of limitations on a misdemeanor dui? I have a friend who had a dui in Texas several years ago and was just passing through, & never went to court to resolve the situation. Now they may be transferred to the state. They would like to know what to expect, & their best course of action to resolve this matter.
Thank you!

Re: Statute of limitations on misdemeanor dui
There is a 2 year statute of limitations on dwi in Texas. However, this just means that the person must be charged with dwi within that time period. If the person avoids court for that period, the statute does not limit the prosecution. If the person skipped bail, there is probably a warrant for his/her arrest. If they move back to Texas, they stand the risk of being arrested.
This person probably needs qualified legal counsel.
