Legal Question in DUI Law in Texas

Suspension of Driver's License

My licencse has been supended since 2004 for a conviction of DWI2. Under Texas law i have to pay a surcharge for 3 yrs. I can't afford topay this, but it is necessary for me to drive. My suspension period was up in 2006. I've been having to work very low paying jobs because of it, knowing if i had my license i could get a better, more decent paying job. Also not having been able to drive has caused problems with me getting my visitation rights to my daughter, because i can't drive to pick her up. I made these mistakes in the past and i no longer drink. Just wondering if there were any suggestions you would have for me on obtaining my license once again. As well as the surcharge I have about 2000 in unpaid tickets in Hopkins county. I know it sounds like alot, but i would really like to get this taken careof and as quick as possible, not being able to drive is really hurting me. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Suspension of Driver's License

Hello there,

Unfortunately, you are going have to comply with the state's requirements in order to obtain your license.

You may be able to get an occupational license for occupational and household purposes only but you still must have to get a SR-22 and insurance for the vehicle you will be driving.

Additionally, since this is a second DWI you will have to have an ignition interlock device installed on your vehicle as well.
