Copyright question regarding recorded interviews
In the mid-'70s, my brother hosted an interview show, and recorded quite a few celebrity interviews for a major university on-campus, non-commercial radio station, which subsequently aired them. Having kept the original reel tapes, we'd like to consider transferring the interviews to CD-Rs to market as ''classic'' or even ''historic'' collectibles. No pre-recorded music appears on the tapes (except for short ''bumper'' music in and out of PSAs), and for the occasional interview with a recording artist, where we featured recorded music, we intend on editing the pre-recorded music out, with an eye toward avoiding copyright infringement. With that in mind, though, would there be any copyright infringement to be concerned about as we look to sell copies of these spoken interviews with still-noteworthy celebrities (and some who have passed away or declined in popularity)?

Re: Copyright question regarding recorded interviews
You should speak with a copyright attorney. If your brother did the interviews while working for the school, the school may be the owner of the copyright. A copyright attorney can help determine who would own the copyright. Do you know any in your area?
