can I use the name

I want to use the name ''Oscar Night'' for a non-profit charity fundraiser. Will I get into trouble if I use it?

Re: can I use the name

You will be hammered if they find out. Oscar is a trademark of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and they are aggressive about protecting their marks. I wouldn't be surprised if it has also been registered under the Madrid system so using it outside the US is not a guarantee of safety. You can always contact them and request permission. If you are outside the US, you probably are safe. If you are in the US, then you must technically get permission from the owner of the Oscar intellectual property rights. Whether your fundraiser is large enough to get attention is a factor, but of course asking is always the most responsible approach. We can handle this for you.
