Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
60 days from when?
From what date is your divorce final? Is it from the date you went to court or from the date the papers were filed? When do I receive my final divorce decree?

Re: 60 days from when?
It depends on the reason you are asking. Generally, the divorce is granted when the judge says you are divorced and makes a docket entry to that effect. But if you are talking appeal, then the divorce is final thirty days after the judge signs a decree unless a motion for new trial or certain other types of motions get filed - then it gets complicated.
Sixty days is the time the case has to be on file for you to get divorced in the first place.
If you think you are divorced but don't have a decree, you should call the court clerk to find out and arrange to get a copy.

Generally, it is the date the decree is signed, unless a motion for new trial or appeal is filed within 30 days of the date the decree is signed.
You should get a copy but I recommend that you do not depend on others to get it to you. Call or visit the court and get a copy yourself.
