Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am 16 and I want to get emancipated so I can get married. I do not live with my parents and neither one have legal rights over me, so how can I go through the emancipation process?

Wrong. They both have legal rights over you as long as you are under the age of 18. What you mean is that there are not court orders in place. Texas law still gives them all the rights of being a parent.

To become emancipated, you need to ask the court and at least one of your parents will have to verify the petition. Maybe they will do that for you. Or maybe they will consent to your underage marriage, which will have the same legal effect.

This is coming from a divorce attorney, so just keep that in mind: Please don't get married at 16. Get an education (at least college or a trade school) before you do that. Please.
