Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am 17 and live in Nocona texas....I really can't get along with my mother or her "New" Husband. They drink all the time we argue almost every day, and their never home. This town is hard to find a job and I really need to get one at my age. I am wanting to live with my grandparents In Oklahoma city, but My mother told me no. Do I have to listen to what she says or can I leave something with the police dept to tell them were i am? Or how does this work.....Help me plz.

Technically, if you leave home at age 17 without your parent's permission, you are a "runaway." As a practical matter, the police may choose not to get involved (when/if your mother reports you), especially if (a) you've gone to a safe place to live and (b) you're about to turn 18 anyway.

The best thing you could do would be to wait until your 18th birthday. Have your stuff packed, have a plan for where you're going, and give yourself a big birthday present.
