Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My 8 month old's father signed the B.C. acknowledging his paternity. But, now he is evading the attorney general's attempts at locating him by changing addresses. If no possession orders/child support orders are in place, can he take our child any time I'm not present (such as at the babysitter's)?

Yes he can.

The AG can serve him by publication or by alternative service. They do not have to serve him personally.

If the AG is not pursuing this quickly enough for you (they have thousands of cases to pursue), you will need to hire a private attorney to put your ex on child support.

If you don't think you can afford an attorney, call Legal Aid or the Texas Legal Services Center (www.tlsc.org).

Good luck!
