20 percent of gross or net????
In San Antonio, Texas.....is child support based on 20% of gross income or net income?

In the entire State of Texas the answer is NEITHER!
It's based on 20% of all net resources. Defined in the TX family Code.
Also, you take the gross pay and use a chart the TX legislature created to determine how much the child support should be.
I think the TX Attorney General website has the chart.
It is based on all sources of income -- rental income, investments, all jobs, etc.
I usually look at tax returns for the past 2 years and if they are the similar then I divide by 12 for the avereage monthly income.

Twenty percent is for one child. The percentage increases for the number of children you are paying child suport for. The percentage is decreased if you are supporting other children that are not subject to the court's jurisdiction. You need to see a lawyer to make sure that the correct percentage is used.
