what do i do?

im 16 and will be 17 in a couple months and i want to move out of my house and get my own place how do i move out of my house legally? what do i need to do in order to move out?

This is a tricky area for you.

When you are 17, you are legally no longer a runaway, or truant.

However, you are not legally an adult until you are 18. That means that anything that is legally binding requires a parent's authorization.

Additionally, if your parents are divorced, and there are court orders regarding your conservatorship, they are valid until you are 18, and the court has jurisidiction over you.

If your home life is beyond redemption, consider asking a relative (aunt, uncle, grandparent) to take conservatorship and/or guardianship over you.

If there is no one to do that, and you have yourself in a responsible position in your life, and can prove that to the court, you may want to petition for emancipation.

Hopefully, you have a counselor or pastor or responsible adult that you can consult on these matters.
