Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

i have a 7 year old daughter. the biological father is threatening to take me to court for rights to his child. he is not on the birth certificate and has not had any contact with me or the child sence before she was born. i don't want him to have any rights due to the fact he is very absive. what can i do to terminate his rights without confronting him or going to court so my soon to be husband can adopt my daughter

Sounds like he wants to have a paternity test done to see if he is in fact the biological father.

You need to retain an attorney to help you out. There may be some limits on his bringing this sort of action so late.

If dad succeeds you want to be sure to ask for retroactive child support.

Also adoption is very complex especially if the father will not consent to have his rights terminated. This would give him a reason to voluntarily give up his rights to the child.
