Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My 12 year old daughter no longer wants to visit with her father, what are her rights at this point? Also she has a school function scheduled 2 weeks from Friday, and she will not be able to visit on his visitation. She has notified him of the function and he told her that she needs to unenroll in the orcherstra program because he will not be able to take her on his weekend due to the fact that he is jealous and does not care if its a grade or not. What advice can you give me on this question as well?

A 12 yr. cannot decide anything. She can decide once she turns 18.

It sounds like you might need to consider mediation or a modification.

If it a "graded" event on a Friday night, the Judge is going to be very upset if she misses the event. School comes first for most judges.

You might want to talk to your prior attorney. If you don't want to use that attorney, you need to be looking for a new one to hire.

You need to read your current court order and what it says about mediation. If you don't have a certified copy, you need to order one. A certified copy is one that has the Judge's signature so that you know it is the final copy.

I am not taking new cases at this time.

I highly recommend PATRICIA BUSHMAN at 713-807-9405. She is currently on vacation until September 13th.

You might also consider talking to Rose Cardenas at 713-271-4110 or 832-419-4110.

Please tell either of these attorneys that FRAN sent you.

Good luck!
