Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

17 year old daughter

My daughter is turning 17 on November 1. She doesn't want to follow the rules we set out, so she has decided to quit school and move to another town. She was placed in our home by CPS and adopted by us. Is there any action we can take to prevent that from happening?

Re: 17 year old daughter

Maybe not. It sounds as if there are no current court orders restricting her residence. You could meet with a lawyer, with all of your documentation to confirm this. She will need to remain in school until she is 18, emancipated or takes the GED. A court can charge her with truancy, require her school attendance, and dictate where she resides.
