Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am a 17 year old female who lives in Washington with my grand parents. I just went on a trip with my Aunt to Texas to visit my mother. She will now not let me leave until I am 18. What can I do? I need to be home in less then a week for summer school and to get things set up to go to school where I live.

If your grandparents have custody then your mom is wrong to keep you.

You can call the local police, sheriff and/or constable and see what their local policies are.

17 yr. old is strange in Texas. For criminal you are an adult, for civil you are a child. CPS won't get involved.

Call your grandpraents, see what they want to do.

If you are registered in WA, you are not a Texas resident. See what the local authorities say. We all want you to graduate from school and not be a drop-out.

You might even call CPS and explain what is going on. Even CPS wants you to graduate from high school. But they might not do anything.

Good luck!
