Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

18year of girl, 17year old boy, not getting married, baby due in August. Boy's parents have lots of money, girl's parents have no money. Boys parents plan to fight for custody of the baby for their son. What needs to be done now or at the birth to ensure custody stays with the mother and is there anything that can be done before the baby is born? (What we suspect that will happen is that the boys family will have the girl move in with them for a few months after the baby is born and then kick the girl out, telling her that she can't take the baby with her) Now if she calls the police, the father will have just as much right to the baby the mother, but I would think that if the mother leave, because she was kicked out of the house, wouldn't that be considering abandoning the baby? Even if it is the grandparents that kicked her out and won't give up the baby. So, we just want to know what needs to be done now or as soon as the baby is born.

Don't worry about doing anything before the baby is born (the mother of the child should keep her nose clean - no drugs, no alcohol, no criminal acts, keep her appointments with her doctor).

The father does NOT have "just as much right to the baby," not until he files a petition for paternity and establishes that he's the child's father. You and I and everybody else may know that he's the father, but legally, he's a stranger to this child.
