Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My 17 year old nephew has been living with me for about a year here in Texas. Now his Dad, who lives in Arkansas is threatening to come and make him move up there. What rights do I or my nephew (who doesnt want to move) have?

I assume that you don't have any court-ordered rights.

You'll want to check Arkansas law and see at what point your nephew is considered to be an adult. He may have the right to say "no."

If the nephew has been living down here with Dad's consent, you may have the right (under UIFSA) to file a petition for custody. This will be expensive in terms of what you pay a lawyer.
