My 6 year son has not seen his father.he is being raised by my boyfriend can i file for abandonment

Perhaps. If dad has not seen his son for more than 6 months and is not away because of military duty, and dad knows where his son is. then you may be able to file to to terminate parental rights because of abandonment. If dad is paying child support, it would be a good idea to have someone else to step in his shoes.
