Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Can a 17 year old woman leave home, without parental consent, in the State of Texas? If so, what would be the requirements? Most of the answers I've found have said that the age of majority is 18, which is important, however irrelevant to my question.
As I read on an answer site, yahoo answers I believe and answered by an attorney, a 17 year old individual can leave home and cannot be reported as a runaway or missing person as long as the legal guardians and/or local law enforcement have a current address for the individual. Coming from a licensed attorney I believe that this is my best answer yet.
I would however like to see the law in the Texas State Legal Statutes in its original text so I can visually verify that it is correct. The only problem is, I cant seem to locate the section on the Texas Constitution and Statutes website (http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/).
An answer summing up any information you find in the actual "law code" for this matter accompanied by the law in original text would be very helpful. Thanks so much for your help.

A 17 yr. old is still a minor in the State of Texas and cannot leave home without parental permission. So all the answers that you have read are very relevant to your question. You are just hoping to find something that will justify the answer you want!
I would call the local police, sheriff and constable where the 17 yr. old lives and see their local policy.
I have no idea where you "read" about a current address solves all the problems in your friend's facts. I've never heard or read that law before.
If you really want to know the true answers to the questions you are trying to get the answers to in this matter, then pay the money and sit down with a criminal law attorney in your county. Asking questions on free legal websites without giving all the facts is worth the money you are paying -- the answers are worthless!
