Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Almost 4 years ago my ex was awarded custody of our 2 boys.My side was not heard(my attorney neglected to file the discovery) Now that the boys are 10 and 13 yrs. old they have complained on numerous occasions of having to ride in the vehicle with dad while he is drunk. They have even gone as far as to ask me to set up a meeting with a judge so they can tell him and hopefully get out of that situation. My 13 yr.old refers to dad as 'drunk-o'.I'am afraid for their safety as they are as well.Is there a way to skip hiring a lawyer and go straight to the judge with the complaint from these children?

You don't absolutely have to hire a lawyer, but you do have to follow procedure. Your ex is entitled to due process.
You file a motion to modify the custody order, and in that motion you ask that the Judge interiew the children.
However, as soon as you serve your ex with the motion, he'll hire a lawyer and bury you in paper. You're going to need a lawyer no matter what.
