Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

17 years ago me and a girl had a baby she left after she had the baby and i could not find them anywhere a little while later she calls my mother and says shes getting married and raising her child without me i never heard from them again. untill last year when they served me papers for child support 17 years latter .CAN THESE PEOPLE REALLY DO THIS TO ME? ask me to go away and then force me to pay all these years latter .now there going to put me in jail cause i kant pay

This is certainly a bad situation. Generally you can go back in time to get retroactive child support. Whether the facts of this case might sway a judge against ordering back support, I cannot say, and no other attorney can make that guarantee to you either.
