Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am 17 years old and my boyfriend is in his 20's. My mother does NOT approve and says I can not date him. Now the cops told me that it doesn't matter what she says I can do want I want and won't get him in trouble with the law. Now I found out from a lawyer that there are some loop holes my mother could use. But she couldn't tell me what they are. PLEASE someone tell me what these ( loop holes ) are so I am aware and make sure I don't get my boyfriend in trouble with the law.

There are two separate legal issues here.
No, neither you nor your boyfriend could get into trouble for having a sexual relationship. At 17, you are "of age."
Yes, your boyfriend could get into trouble for harboring a runaway child (Texas Penal Code Section 25.06) a Class A misdemeanor (up to a year in jail).
