Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am 33 years old. My mother never established paternity for me. I met my father when I was 16. From 16-21 he acknowledged I was his child. He had since denied me and refuses to take a paternity test. Is there any legal way to have him take a test? I currently reside in Texas and he lives in Louisiana. As an afterthought, my mother currently still owes $2500 in back child support for me in Louisiana.

Why do you want to establish your alleged father's paternity? You are not entitled to any child support one way or the other, so don't take this battle on for that reason. If you are concerned about inheriting from your "father", you can get a court-ordered genetic (DNA) test done when he dies if you want to contest his Will or the intestate distribution of his estate.

Other than setting up your right to inherit from him...I don't see any advantage to you in establishing him as your father.
