Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Hello I am 29 years old with an 11 yr old half sister. I have not seen her since she was 4 yrs old. I am wondering what legal rights I have to visit her. I can afford an attorney and will pay for one. I have attempted contact and my grandmother would like visitation too and is willing to pay for the attorney also. I am to the point where I am going to go sit outside my little sisters house and wait to see her.

Much more information is necessary to answer this. Why are you not seeing her? Are her parents separated/divorced? If so, who has primary custody? (either parent can let her see you in this case.) Is there a reason that you have been denied the right to see her (criminal activity, etc.)

Frequently, something can be worked out without resorting to litigation, but please be aware that the courts have held that they are not going to interfere with the decisions of a fit parent.

You should meet with an attorney and tell him or her the answers to these questions and others that the attorney might ask. Only then can someone properly advise you.

I would be very hesitant to just go wait for her. If there is even the slightest chance that family violence could occur, don't do it; the ramifications could be severe.
