Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am 17 yrs old. I will 18 in 2 months. My parents are divorced and I live with my dad. A few years ago, my mom was hurt at work and as a result I get a social security check each month from the accident my mom had, but my dad deposits the checks into his bank account.

When I turn 18 will I be able to access that money? How do I get that money back from my dad? It is over $20,000. Please reply.

That money may or may not be long gone. Your options depend upon whether those monies were awarded as child support. If it is child support money, you are not entitled to it, as it was meant to satisfy her child support obligations; which is money owed to your dad, not to you. If it was some other type of settlement fund being distributed to you, then you may be entitled to the funds. You will need more information regarding the funds actually be distributed. Your mom may have the information you are seeking.
