Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Adding A Father to a Birth Certificate

When I was pregnant with my son, me & my now fiance split up. I did not put him on the birth certificate. However, we are about to get married and so our question is, how do we add him to my son's birth certificate and give my son his last name.

Re: Adding A Father to a Birth Certificate

You could do a voluntary paternity case. There is no waiting period to get a paternity case done.

If everyone is agreed, it's pretty quick.

You then have to send a certified copy of the paternity to Austin and order a new birth certificate with the name change and father's name added to the birth certificate.
