Address & Name Change
I contacted the State of Texas to see if I had the most updated address information for my two kids that I am still paying support on. I had sent one a birthday card and it came back three times so I finally called the Post Office and they said there was nobody living at that address. I contacted the OAG in Texas and they said the information I was requesting was confidential. I have to notify the courts every time I move or have my phone number change, the court than in turns gives that information to my ex-wife. Do the laws not apply the same way?
My other question to the OAG was it seemed that my middle son had possibly changed his last name from my last name to his mother's maiden name. When I inquired about this, I was also told that this was a confidential matter. He is 17 years old, how can he change his last name without me being notified first?

yes yes and yes. Yes you have the right to know where your children are. Yes you can force their mother to reveal her address to you. Yes, a minor cannot legally change his last name in Texas without notifying you. You can file suits, different suits, for each of your questions. Can you file them on your own - sure. I suggest the Texas family code and Texas rules of Civil procedure and local rules - read all of these and you can file the 3 suits. Good luck.
