Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Adopting my Wifes children to take my last name

I am looking for answers on what I would need to do to adopt my wifes children ages 8 and 9.

We have been married for two years and we would like to change the childrens last name to my last name.

There has been no contact with her ex husband in over 5 years, he has not sent even one child support check ever to the childrens support.

The children want nothing to do with there father due to him being in and out of trouble with the law.

Please let my wife and I know what we need to do to expediantly change our childs last name to mine to start off the new millenium with a new beginning and new last name for our children.

The laws on adoption are detailed and lengthy. Thus an email response would not serve you well. You should contact an attorney in your area for personal advice as each case may be different. If you are in Dallas county or its contiguous counties, call my law office for a free phone consultation at 214-712-9242.
