Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Adoption of an adult

How does a couple go about adopting an adult, that is 22 years old. The father is deceased and the mother has nothing to do with her. She is living in our household and we wish to give her the security of a family. It is her wish also to be adopted. What are the costs? What needs to be done to start the process of adoption?

Re: Adoption of an adult

What is needed is a petition for adoption,

the consent of the child in writing, and a court

hearing approving the adoption. The process is

not as complex as a child adoption. If you need

legal assitance, let me know the area you are in

and I can attempt to locate an attorney in your

area.

Re: Adoption of an adult

This is a simple process. All you need is the

consent of all parties involved. If you have

any other kids it is best that they sign off

as well as that would eliminate any other claims

by the kids after you pass on, as it

relates to any inheritance.

If you are in the Central Texas Area.

I am available to assist.
