Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Adoption & Child Support

My sons father signed a VRPR in March, it was filed with the adoption paperwork - my husband is adopting my son. My ex threatened to use the 11 days he had to revoke it and go through with revoking it if the petition for termination and adoption didn't say he was cleared of all future and rears child support. I had put so much money into getting the paperwork filed and finding him that I went ahead and did it. It is now almost 2 months past him being able to revoke, and I am not wanting to drop the rears amount. Our court date is in a few days and wanting to know if we make the change so he is still responsible for the arrearage can he appeal it and fight it since the petition originally requested it be dropped? I know the VRPR says he has no right to be informed of anything and has no say in anything anymore, but I don't know if he is allowed to appeal the final order.

Re: Adoption & Child Support

Doing a termination and adoption is not really a DIY kind of thing. You really ought to at least pay an attorney who handles adoptions to review your paperwork before the Court date. If you haven't done everything and done it right, there will be no termination and adoption. Remember, the Judge cannot help you correct any mistakes you have made.
