adoption of my grandson

I would like to adopt my grandson which i have had with me since birth. he is now almost 6 months old. what is the process i need to go through to get this done. the mother and father will sign all papers.

You need to retain an attorney to represent you. The parents should have their own attorney. If you are going to formally adopt your grandchild, then the parents' parental rights will have to be terminated. You can them proceed with the adoption. If you want a less permenent arrangement, then you can arrange to have custody of the child awarded to you, and the parents paying you childsupport. This would allow the parents to later take the child if they are able and capable of taking care of the child. I suggest that you consult with an attorney to go over the specifics.

You should file a petition for termination and adoption. If biological parents are in agreement with the adoption, there should be no problem, but you need an attorney to help you do this because it is technical.

A termination of the parental rights of the biological parents must be effected before the adoption can be achieved. Since both parents are willing to cooperate, this will simplify the process but an attorney's assistance, in my opinion, will be necessary. For further information, call me.
