My wife and I know a young lady that has gotten pregnant. she has expressed a wish to give the baby up and she beleives that my wife and I would be good canidates. How would we go about adopting the child.

You should find a lawyer to help you with this. This situation is not without great emotional risk as well as financial risk. For example, what happens is she changes her mind when she comes out of the delivery room? That's just one question you need to answer.
