adoption/social security benefits

Our nephews' adoption was just finalized and he is now our son. He receives a monthly social security benefits check from his deceased father.

Will he still receive this or will us being his parents make a difference?

This is a question for the Social Security Administration, but I wouldn't spend any of the checks that have come since the adoption.
