Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Adult Name Change

I am looking to change my name. I have a rather cumbersome ethnic name that I shorten. It would only require me to delete 3 letters and get rid of my middle name altogether. I will be getting married next year and want to know should I wait until then to change my name. I've been told that a person cannot change their name if it is to avoid creditors - this is not the case. I have always used the shortened version of my name. When I get married I would still keep my maiden name and hyphenate with my married name. What is the best way to go about doing this? Should I change it now or wait?
