Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Adultery & Divorce

Got married in Las Vegas 9/23/01. Husband is filing for divorce saying I was unfaithful. I am willing to grant divorce because we had not been getting along since getting married. No kids but we are builing a house. Husband wants me to sign form saying I will be financially responsible for the fees of the house if it is not able to sell in a timely manner. If I don't sign form, instead of amicable divorce, he will file adultery. I want an easy divorce, but not comfortable with the financial implications.

Re: Adultery & Divorce

In Harris County, Texas the courts do not consider adultery very serious, especially when there are no children involved.

It sounds like your husbands wants to make you commit to possibly a debt that could run you thousands of dollars. I strongly advise you to consult an attorney.

DO NOT SIGN A WAIVER OF SERVICE if he sends you one.

It's very hard and expensive to win a divorce based on fault, and it doesn't sound like he wants to spend the money. Call me at 713-932-1888 to provide more details.
