Obviously, you can go hire an attorney, so I assume that you feel that you cannot afford one or you would have done so.

If you really cannot afford an attorney, then you could talk to a legal aid office or perhaps the law clinic at a local law school.

Many women, however, feel that they cannot afford an attorney just because they do not have the cash at that time. If there are marital assets, then the husband can be ordered by the court to either turn over enough assets for you to hire an attorney or he may be ordered to pay you for the attorney. Remember, though, even then it is your own money that is being paid, not just his.

If this is the case, then see a lawyer about taking the case and asking for interim attorney fees. Those are granted all of the time, but only if there is money to be had.

Also, if your husband has significantly more income that you, a court would also likely order him to pay interim spousal support until the divorce is over.
