Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
please do not advertise email. it has my name in it. we have a home in texas. it was paid for before we got married. since we've been married, there has been major things done to improve it's value. new roof, porches, siding, landscaping, rooms remodeled and finished, ect. he always says it's his and none is mine. we are working in the same place (state), we work out of state alot. he decided he wanted to go to an outage out of this state were working in to make overtime had he decided for both of us to go to begin with i would not be stuck in my situation. .i could of went to job also. we discussed this prior to me taking this job. it will be at least 10 months which means i will be here for a year altogether. since i cant leave this job without jeopordizing going to work for this company or plant, i cant leave here yet. he said he would sign a paper that states i own half of the home and property. i want to know what the paper has to say and does it have to be notorized? does it matter if he writes it or me? what i'm asking is for this to be legal in the event of a divorce what should be written on it and should it be notorized? i don't want to go along with anything unless it's all legal and he could not try to fight me in the end. prior to this he always said that the house was all his and nothing was mine. i know i'm entitled to a percentage if we did get a divorce, but i still get tired of him throwing the fact that it's all his, in my face. since he wants to do something he's willing to put in writing that i own half. what do i do to have a legal binding document.we are still gonna be together he just agreed to put it all in writing. i want to see if this is actually legal or if he knows it wouldn't be legal and that's why he agrees to write it. what is the procedure to take care of this? thanks so much
