What age can a child select which parent to live with?

I have answered this question in the past. You might want to go back and read my old replies.
In the State of Texas, a minor child cannot choose what parent they live with. However, they can fill out a form after the age of 12 stating who they would prefer to live it. Their request is NOT binding on the court.
I have used this example before. A child wanted to lived with his Dad because they smoked dope together. The Judge did NOT grant that request.
The Judge looks at the "best interests of the child" when taking his/her decision into account.
