There is no such age. Unfortunately, the Family Code treats an 18-year-old high school senior the same as a six-year-old.

It creates an interesting situation when the 16-year-old "child" simply drives off in his car, and Dad shows up at 6:00 pm to pick him up, and Mom doesn't know where the "child" is. Each judge treats this kind of situation differently; one Judge in Dallas will threaten to put the child in juvenile hall; a Judge in Collin County won't enforce visitation when the child is age 15 or older.
