Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Alimony

I was married in Texas and still reside here. I have been married for 7 years. Am I entitled to Alimony? I have heard you had to be married for 10 years in the state of Texas.

Re: Alimony

That is correct. In Texas it is called spousal support, and you should be able to locate the law in the Family Code. You may be able to obtain temporary spousal support while the lawsuit is pending. If you are physically or mentally disabled it will be a factor. Otherwise, you must be married for 10 years, and then it is good for only 3 years.
