Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Alimony/Child support payments
My ex-husband is constantly late and short pays me the
child support and alimony he owes me every month. The original amount was
based on minimum wage since he was unemployed at the time so it is very little
money, but now he has a very decent paying job and still underpays the original
amount required. My daughter is now 18 and graduated high school, so he will probably stop paying the child support. I live in a very small town and only make $8/hr - I need his money to survive. If I take him to court, can they raise the amount and garnish
his wages? Is it possible to collect the money from him through a third-party to avoid it being late? Could he be required to pay court costs/attorney's fees?

Re: Alimony/Child support payments
Since the child is now 18, you can't go after him for more child support. However, you can go after him for the money he hasn't paid plus interest. I don't know if the AG would do that for you or not. In many areas they are very, very busy. If you want to discuss my assistance in this matter, contact me by e-mail.
