Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

When am I allowed to leave my house?

I'm 17 and my mother always finds a way to fight with me b/c of her boyfriend, she has even kicked me out of the house before and I want to leave before I do something that might hurt me in the end.

In Texas, you are an adult at age 18 (see section 101.003 of the Texas Family Code). When you're 18, even if you haven't finished high school, you can join the Army, leave home, or get married (or all three) without your parent's permission.

If you leave home at age 17 without your parent's permission, you are technically a "runaway," but the police won't worry about it as much as they would if it were an 8-year-old.
