Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Amendment to divorce agreement

My ex-husband and I have agreed to let my 16 year old son live with him at this time. We currently have ''joint custody'' with me having the legal domicile right. Do we have to file some type of amendment stating the change or do we have to go back to court to get this done ? Do I need to hire a lawyer for this process ?

Since I am not your atty this is not specific legal advice to you. Someone contemplating that you are doing is treading in dangerous waters - problems with relinquishment of parental control, permanent loss of child support, danger or having to be the one paying child support, etc., etc. I'd be happy to consult if you call my office.

You need to do a MODIFICATION.

You can certainly try to do it yourself - you can go to any law library and look at the Texas Family Law Practice Manual for the correct forms to use.

If you can't figure it out, then you can hire an attorney.

Best of luck,
