Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Anullment After Divorce

I have been divorced for almost 2 years, and i am considering getting re-married, being Catholic I have to have my marriage anulled to be married in the Church again. I have a daughter with my previous wife, if i have my 1st marriage anulled, will this have any effect on my custody of my daughter? And does my ex have to agree to the anullment? Thanks.

Re: Anullment After Divorce

Secular divorces and religious annulments are two different animals that have nothing to do with each other. The annulment in the church will have no effect on custody of your daughter. By the same token, no court has jurisdiction to order your ex to take part in or cooperate with respect to a religious procedure or practice.
