Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

What to do about getting aPaternity Test?

Two years ago my income tax check was taken for back child support. I called to verify where it went because this was the first that I heard of this. They gave me the name of a person that I was went two years ago. The court assigned me to pay child support saying I gave up the right to a paternity test, but they mailed the papers to an old address. Is there something that I can do to where I can take a paternity without paying for it to determine if the child is mine. And if the child is not mine will the courts be able to do away with the child support. Or if I do have to pay for the test and the child is not mine, will I get my money back for the test.

As a lawyer, you need to stop worrying about who pays for the test. You are looking at tens of thousands of dollars in child support for the next 18 years. Get the test, and if you are not the father, find a lawyer willing to represent you to modify the order.
