Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Applying for full custody of child

I have not heard from my ex-husband in over a year. He has not ever provided any support for our three year old child and has not had any contact with her for over a year by his own choice. How do I begin the process to gain full custody of my child, and him to lose his rights?

You will have to file a Petition to Terminate the father's parental rights. Some search for the father must be undertaken. If you don't know where he is, does someone in his family or friends know of his whereabouts? If you can't find him, the Court will appoint an attorney to represent him and you will have to pay the fees - usually $200-$300 - more or less. The termination will likely be granted on the facts you have written. If you want my assistance with this matter, contact me by e-mail.
