Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I asked to postpone my wedding 4 months before the agreed date (I was the groom) and three weeks later, my now ex moved all of her belongings out of my house while I wasn't home and ended our relationship. Now, nearly 2 years on, she and her family are seeking reparations through a letter penned by a local law firm for a total of $5,100 for the costs they incurred (which was in reality a $200 catering deposit and her dress cost). No inviations were printed or sent, no one was invited yet, we didn't even have a venue chosen. Although they are claiming my parents offered to pay half of the costs, (which never happened), and there was no contract other than my verbal marriage proposal, do they have standing to charge me with a contract breach?

You didn't breach a contract. You should treat their threats with contempt. Tell them what to kiss. Their threats are ridiculous.
